About us

In July 1998, the vision of forming a new church took root among approximately 120 dedicated individuals. After much deliberation, the name "Inland Empire Filipino SDA Church (IEFSDAC)" was chosen, a suggestion by founding member Jun Lucrida.

The inaugural Sabbath worship was held at the Norman Church, located just south of Waterman Visayan Church. However, the Norman Church proved to be a temporary home as limitations on membership size forced the congregation to seek alternative venues. With divine intervention, founding member Roland Medes discovered an opportunity to rent the church at Norton Air Force Base for Sabbath services, providing a temporary sanctuary.

Despite the transient nature of their locations, the congregation continued to grow steadily. Recognizing this growth, the Southeastern California Conference (SECC) granted official recognition as a company within just six months of inception. Nevertheless, the expanding membership necessitated another relocation. Prayers were fervently offered for a more permanent place of worship, leading the congregation to Franz Hall at Loma Linda Academy for a brief period before securing a rental on Clay Street in Redlands. Despite the humble accommodations, the faith of the members remained steadfast, resulting in further growth through baptisms and transfers.

Remarkably, within a year, an unexpected opportunity arose. The State Street Christian Church in Redlands was up for sale, presenting an opportunity for IEFSDAC to establish a more permanent presence. Despite initial reservations about affordability, negotiations ensued, ultimately resulting in the acquisition of the church building, land, parking space, and adjacent houses for $375,000. Divine providence was evident as a subsequent offer from Calvary Church of Redlands to purchase the property at double the price was unable to be realized due to the completion of the sale. The transition was marked by the departure of the remaining members of the State Street Christian Church, further solidifying IEFSDAC's place in the community. Overcoming financial obstacles, the church members rallied together, raising the required down payment of $125,000 through generous donations and loans. With the support of the SECC, a mortgage was secured, facilitating the realization of the long-held dream of owning a church home.

In a remarkably short span of time, what began as a humble gathering of believers evolved into a thriving church community. Within six months of its foundation, IEFSDAC was recognized as a company, progressing to full church status in March 2000. By November of the same year, the congregation joyously celebrated their relocation to the State Street church building, now known as IEFSDAC. Rooted in faith and perseverance, the church stands as a beacon of light in the surrounding community, a testament to the Lord's guiding hand throughout its rich history.
